Facial skin care brands will compete with each other to try to convince the public they are the best. While they are, no doubt, all good brands, they may not be right for you. When choosing facial skin care, cost is always going to be a factor. It won't help you in the end if you start a good skin care regimen only to find you can't afford to follow through to the end. Another factor is knowing your skin type and your skin needs. If you are not sure what type of skin you have, there are tests you can do yourself to determine skin type. If still in doubt, check with a dermatologist and they can help.
Many people using facial skin care products will purchase discount merchandise because of its cheap price. While there is nothing wrong with discount merchandise, it needs to be for your skin type or it won't help you at help. It could make matters worse. There are many facial skin care brands on the market. Here are just a few:
Clinique-one of the world's largest suppliers of makeup and fragrance products, it was started by Estée Lauder Inc as the first dermatologist and allergy tested and fragrance free cosmetic brand. It was also one of the first companies to match skin care needs with skin types. It started with a 3-step program still in use today: cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing.
Mary Kay- This is a cosmetics company started by Mary Kay Ash and sells cosmetics of all kinds. Their products are sold door to door and at 'Mary Kay' parties with their top sellers getting prizes. They became well known for giving pink Cadillacs as prizes.
Olay-This Procter & Gamble brand started with a facial moisturizer product. It was originally started as oil of Olay and was not described as any one thing in particular….just a product to make women look younger. They now carry a full line of products.
Ponds- This company was started by Theron Ponds with the start of the cosmetic line being Pond's extract with witch-hazel. Today Pond's has a full cosmetic product line and has a 3-step process consisting of cleanse, tone and exfoliate.
Shiseido- a cosmetics company that got its start in 1888 and created a lotion in 1897 that is still sold today. They have an entire cosmetic line for men and women.
