Skin Lightening

Skin lightening is the process of lightening your skin to change the color or to reduce or eliminate dark spots, freckles or discolorations on the skin. There are different companies that will sell products for lightening skin. There are many pros and cons on skin lightening. The biggest negative fact is that most skin lighteners contain hydroquinone, which inhibits the production of melanin and is considered toxic. Melanin protects the body from harmful rays from the sun and to inhibit its production is putting us a risk for cancer.

Natural skin lightening is the same basic process, but it uses natural plant extracts like Alpha Arbutin, Bearberry, Kojic Acid and licorice. These ingredients have skin lightening properties that correct uneven skin tone. Skin lightening agents by plant extracts such as what’s in natural skin lightening is safer because they don’t use hydroquinone.

In one available method of skin lightening, kojic acid in the form of a skin lightening cream is used along with an exfoliating lotion. The lotion is used first to help shed the dried dead skin and then the kojic acid cream is applied. Using natural products like kojic acid and skin lightening doesn’t hold the same dangers of cancer. There are skin lightening pills available from certain companies, but the safety of them is still on debate. At this point, if you want to lighten skin, pills may not be the way to go unless you check with a dermatologist first.

You may feel that you’ve waited forever to finally get the skin you want and want to lighten you skin in days. Most skin lightening companies will tell you we lose skin every 28 days and that’s when it’s replenished. There are ads, however, that say you can lighten your skin in days with Diva. This system used a skin lightening serum derived from Alpha Arbutin.

You may also want to see a dermatologist and check out their cosmetic dermatology skin-lightening procedures. It’s around a 20-minute procedure done in a clinic to help patients with scarring, allergies or disease. They generally don’t wish to do the procedure just because it’s stylish to have light skin. A licensed dermatologist can also give you tips oh how to lighten African American skin.

You many find that after using acne treatments, skin lightening treatments you’re researching are similar if not the same. If a treatment is used to cure or diminish acne, your skin tone will usually lighten at the same time. Another startling fact is that there are certain foods that lighten your skin such as foods rich in Omega 3 fat like fish, salmon or tuna to name just a few.
