Scabies

Many people ask, "what is scabies?" The answer to that question is simple. Scabies is a fairly common skin infection that ends up as itchy bumps and blisters on the skin. The rash or blisters involved with scabies persist until something is done about the mites and the eggs. Scabies, or the symptoms of scabies, is caused by little mites that burrow under the upper layer of skin and lay their eggs. You can find scabies on humans of course, but you can also find scabies on dogs since mites are tiny bugs that can transfer from one person to another, or in this case to an animal. Scabies are highly contagious so if you think you may have them see a doctor immediately. Scabies causes small itchy bumps or blisters that are some times pus filled. When scratched or irritated, these bumps can turn into skin that is scaly, scabbed and crisscrossed with scratch marks. Try to avoid scratching at the bumps as they can also leave scars well after the scabies are gone. The symptoms of scabies are easy to pick up on and make for a quick diagnosis when seen by a doctor.
