Red Skin
When I see the words red skins, the Washington Redskins automatically come to mind. However, red skin is much more serious than a football team. Any number of different things can cause red spots on skin. When we see the phrases, ‘red skin spots’ or ‘small bright red marks on skin’ we assume it is something dreadful or serious. In some cases, it may be serious, but in many cases, these red dots on the surface of the skin or itchy red bumps on skin may be nothing more than insect bites or a simple rash.
One serious cause of red skin is Rosacea. Symptoms of rosacea are:
Flushing and facial redness
Dry skin
Red itchy skin
Red burning skin
Nasal bumps or area of skin thickening
Allergies to food can also cause you to experience red dots on skin. Usually an allergic reaction can start as soon as 15 minutes after eating and will begin with a red spot on the skin or small red dots on the skin. If not treated, the rash can spread over the entire body. Some allergies that were not treated at the first sign of red skin or red itchy skin resulted in hospitalization. One of the main causes of red skin is sunburn. Sunburn is something that is not taken nearly as seriously as it should be.
Many childhood diseases cause small dots on the surface of the skin or red burning skin. Measles and chicken pox are two childhood diseases that start with symptoms of red dots on skin. The dots with chicken pox start as small red bumps and look like red pimples after a couple days. Measles will give you red itchy skin due to all the small red dots. Both of these diseases last from 1 to 2 weeks. Luckily, we now have immunizations for both of these bothersome diseases.
Ringworm, a mild fungal infection, starts as a red circular skin rash. The areas that are most often affected are the head, groin and feet. Ringworm is mildly contagious so you can be infected from coming in contact with someone with ringworm as well as from infected dogs and cats.
Oily skin can cause acne, which can also make your skin red. There are many ways to cure red oily skin. One of the best ways to avoid or control acne is to practice good hygiene habits. Many products on the market, lotions, cleanser or moisturizers, are designed to keep the oil level in our skin at a healthy normal level. Red acne dry skin care is very important if you want you skin to look good at all times.
