PABA

Paba is a compound that is actually called Para amino benzoic acid (PABA) and has been used in many different sunscreens. You can also find Paba in vitamin supplements because Paba is considered part of the Vitamin B complex, and in the vitamin family. The Paba chemical has been widely tested and found to have many different benefits and risks involved when being used orally. If you’re considering taking Paba orally, or in a pill form, you may want to consult a doctor first to find out all the effects of Paba, and specifically the dangers of too much Paba.

When shopping around for a good sunscreen, or sunblock, it’s not hard to find an effective sunscreen with Paba in it. When it comes to suntan lotion and Paba, the reason the lotion works so well has to do with the resonance of Paba molecules in the chemical compound. Without getting too scientifically technical, what happens is that the sun lets off three types of UV rays, two of which actually reach through the earth’s atmosphere and down to our skin. There are two ways to block harmful UV rays, and those are physically with a sunblock, or chemically with a sunscreen. Paba acts as a dye and actually absorbs the harmful UV ray radiation that causes skin damage and prevents them from reaching our skin cells. The Paba resonance structures of the Paba molecules enable it to absorb only the harmful UVB rays to stop the radiation from that particular band of UV ray.

Other chemicals that have a longer resonance structure are longer molecules and are able to absorb UVA rays as well as UVB rays. If you’re looking for a broad-spectrum sunblock, Paba may not be the right chemical to look for but it is very effective at protecting against sunburn. There are going to be different side effects of Paba if you get it in your eyes or mouth. To find out the different Paba side effects you can ask your doctor or go online and find medical information there as well. There can also be found information regarding Paba and Rheumatism since that has been a question raised in the past when dealing with the chemical compound. There are Paba free sunblock products out there that use other dyes and chemicals to help block the harmful UV rays, you can find out what chemical is used in each product by looking on the bottle.
